Visiting this website

This is a static website. When you request a page or file, the web server and the hosting infrastructure receive the technical data needed to deliver it, such as your IP address, the requested URL, date and time, browser information and response status. These data may also be recorded in access or error logs to keep the site available and investigate faults or misuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: my legitimate interest in providing a secure, functioning website.

Local preferences and search

The site does not use analytics or advertising trackers. Fonts, images, styles and scripts are served from this site. If you choose Light or Dark using the theme control, your browser stores that preference locally under the key theme so the site can use it on later visits. Choosing Auto removes it. The preference is not sent to me. This storage follows your express choice and is used only to provide the requested display setting. Search terms are processed in your browser; the search index is downloaded from this site.

Email enquiries

If you email me, I process the address, message and any information you include so I can respond. Depending on the enquiry, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for steps before or during a contract, or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for other correspondence. I delete correspondence when it is no longer needed, unless a statutory retention obligation or a concrete legal claim requires longer storage. Email delivery also involves the email providers used by you and me. There is no contact form on this site.

External links and videos

Links to other websites, including GitHub, Hugging Face and source publications, are ordinary links. Your browser contacts those sites when you follow a link; their own privacy notices apply.

Some posts offer embedded YouTube videos through youtube-nocookie.com. The video player is not loaded until you select Load content. Doing so connects your browser to the provider, which may receive your IP address, browser details and the page you came from, and may use cookies or similar technologies. Loading the player is optional; an external link is available instead. The legal basis for loading the optional player is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. See Google’s privacy policy for its processing, including any transfers outside the European Economic Area.

Videos and images displayed directly on this site are hosted here and do not require a connection to the original publisher.

There is currently no newsletter registration on this site, and this site does not collect newsletter email addresses. If a registration service is added, this notice will be updated before it goes live.

Your rights

Subject to the conditions in the GDPR, you may request access to your personal data (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18) and data portability (Article 20). You may object to processing based on legitimate interests (Article 21) and withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Article 7(3)). Contact me using the email address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia.
